Airliners International 2022 Chicago is operated by Airliners International 2022 ORD LLC which licenses the 'Airliners International' trademark from the World Airline Historical Society, Inc.  The Society is a sponsor of the show and participates through its annual membership meeting and conference. 

Hotel Reservations

The Hilton Rosemont / Chicago O’Hare will be the host venue for Airliners International 2022 in June 2022. We will also have a limited number of airside rooms available at the Hilton Chicago O’Hare Hotel. The AI Planning Committee will send out an email notification when the booking links will be available.

Exhibitors/Vendors - You must purchase a “Full Convention” or “Three-day Convention Registration Package” in addition to the table rentals.

Each vendor is allowed one “Helper” per table purchased. Helper’s name must be submitted with vendor’s application. Helpers do not qualify for tours, booty bag, contests, banquet, or  “Welcome Party” admission. (Vendor & Helper Registration allows early admission to the trading hall for set-up.)

Welcome Party

WELCOME PARTY: The AI 2022 ORD Welcome Party will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 6PM. 

For AI 2022 ORD, we are doing a special Welcome Party for all registered attendees and guests! We will have tickets in Section 102 at the baseball game between the "Chicago Dogs" and the "Milwaukee Milkmen" at close by Impact Field. Each person will get a game ticket, a voucher for a Chicago Vienna Dog, chips and soda and a Chicago Dogs baseball cap! It will be "Thirsty Thursday", with $2 Miller and Hamm's beer cans! And a fireworks show sponsored by the Village of Rosemont after the game. We will have a shuttle bus from the Hilton to the ballpark, or it is a 10 min walk to the stadium!

Our AI 2022 Chicago tours are now sold out. Thank you for your overwhelming support of the show! 

Note: All tour participants must be registered AI attendees.

BASIC RULES FOR ALL TOURS

All tour participants will provide ID type/number and nationality at time of booking.

ID will be checked prior to bus boarding or by TSA.

Tower tours will clear TSA airport security.

All tour participants subject to security inspection by CDA.

Tour booking will cut off June 15 to allow for vetting.

Maximum 48 participants each ORD tour, 15 per hangar tour, 8 per tower tour.

No items other than cameras or small purse allowed on any tour.

Airport bus has limited seating.

10-16 years old only with escort.

Covid rules in force at time of tour will be enforced.

In case of inclement weather or other airport operational issues, tours may be shortened, postponed or cancelled.

 

All Airliners International 2022 ORD tours are graciously provided courtesy of the Chicago Department of Aviation, United Airlines and American Airlines. Please be respectful of all tour escorts, and thank them. Show them how much we appreciate them.

ORD Ramp tour

Shuttle bus will leave Hilton O'Hare Rosemont at assigned time, please be early to board. Shuttle bus will travel to ORD AMC building for transfer to an ORD ramp bus, limited seating available, most attendees will be standing for this tour. You will be escorted around the ramp side at O’Hare airport, with stops at the Central Deice Facility to tour the O’Hare’s specialized snow removal equipment including the Airport Fire Rescue FedEx 727, and at a location appropriate to the landing pattern of the day to get off the bus for viewing and photography. Tour duration is 3 hours, approximately 2 hours on the ramp bus. Please read the additional security instructions below. In case of inclement weather or other airport operational issues, tours may be shortened, postponed or cancelled.

Night Maintenance Tour

Shuttle bus will leave Hilton O'Hare Rosemont at assigned time, please be early to board. Shuttle bus will travel to O’Hare Airport North gate for security check, then to the United Airlines and American Airlines maintenance hangars. You will do a walking tour of overnight maintenance activities in each airline’s hangar, escorted by UA or AA personnel. Tour duration is just over 2 hours. Please read the additional security instructions below. In case of inclement weather or other airport operational issues, tours may be shortened, postponed or cancelled.

American Airlines Ramp Tower /Ops Center tour:

You will observe what it takes to organize operation of one of the major airline hubs in the world. Photos and questions will be allowed, but please be respectful of the employees at work. Be as unobtrusive as possible.

Tour participants will travel to designated meetup spot at ORD airport terminal. Hotel shuttles will be busy, please go early, or you can ride the CTA Blue line to the airport. Participants will be escorted thru TSA security and to the American Airlines ramp control operations at O’Hare airport.

After tour you are on your own to return to the Hilton.

United Airlines Station Operations and Ramp Tower tour

Join us for a rare opportunity to observe a behind the scenes view into the operation of United’s hub at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. A description of the activities performed at these locations will be provided and the participants will be allowed to ask questions and take photos.

Tour participants will travel to designated meetup spot at ORD Terminal 1. Hotel shuttles will be busy, please go early, or you can ride the CTA Blue line to the airport. Participants will be escorted through TSA security and to the United Airlines Operations Center and Ramp Tower at ORD. There will be a significant amount of walking and stair climbing. There is no elevator to the Ramp Tower and will require climbing about 70 steps. Tour will take about 1-2 hours after passing through security. After tour completion, the participants will be escorted to the concourse and then will be on their own to exit the airport and return to the Hilton.

IMPORTANT SECURITY INSTRUCTIONS FOR O’HARE AIRPORT TOURS

We would like to thank the Chicago Department of Aviation for allowing these very rare tours. Security will be strict, below you will find rules to follow that will make the tours run smoothly.

Please respect the security officers just as if you were getting on a flight. You must show the same ID you registered with to board the bus. The AI crew will check as you board the bus, and the security personnel will check again. Security for the tours will be done as you enter the airport. We will start boarding the buses at the Hilton North side each day at 30 min before tour departure. Please be prompt. Tour bookings will end June 15th, after that date no tour additions or changes will be accepted. Children 10-16 years old are allowed with adult escort.

 

Any items you carry on the bus will be hand checked by airport security. You will not be allowed to bring anything larger than a purse or very small camera bag. Pack any carry-on's under airport rules. The less you bring, the faster loading will be for you and all of your fellow tour participants. If in doubt, please leave it in your room. You might be walking on rough ground and concrete. Please no sandals or open toe shoes. Covid mask policy in effect at the date of tour operation will be enforced.

 

There will be no bathroom facilities available for any of the tours. It might be hot and sunny, please plan ahead. We will have water available for the return trip if security will allow.
