MAY 9, 2020
It is with great disappointment we announce that we are postponing Airliners International 2020 PHX until July 7-10, 2021.
The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting global health and our beloved travel industry in many ways. We had hoped that domestic and worldwide travel restrictions would have eased by July, but it looks like they will still be in force in the majority of the world. If we were to try to operate AI this year, the reduced attendance would be a financial disaster for the AI 2020 PHX committee.
The Tempe Mission Palms Hotel has allowed us to change our contract from 2020 to 2021 without penalty, and for this we are deeply grateful. The hotel, as are all travel providers, is dealing with a financial tragedy the likes of which we have never seen.
Soon after you get this email, you will receive notice that your room reservations for 2020 are cancelled. We will soon provide a link to re-instate your room reservations for AI 2021 PHX. All of your table bookings and show registrations will be automatically rolled over to the 2021 show; table layout and locations will stay the same. Other accommodations will be handled on case by case basis.
There have been a few attendees that have let me know that they still intend to travel to Phoenix even if the show was postponed. We are working with the hotel for a special rate for the July 9-11 weekend. We will try to have a cocktail reception Friday night if possible.
Thank you all for understanding. The WAHS and the Airliners International shows are volunteer organizations. We host the AI events for the love of the airline industry, which is shared by all of you. With the current situation, this was our only choice. Our website will be updated shortly with the most current information. Please be sure to sign-up for our email updates (if you haven't already done so). You will be notified of any updates and latest news via email going forward.
Regards, be safe,
